AUTISM IN THE CHURCH
Supporting Children on the Spectrum
SESSION #1
In the first session, we talk about the history, diagnosis and prevalence of Autism Spectrum Disorder. Don’t miss this crucial first step: understanding the people who you are serving.
SESSION #2
We take a hard look at the struggles facing families of children on the Autism Spectrum and lay out the vision of Autism in the Church.
SESSION #3
Inclusion requires new skills to be learned by volunteers and children alike. Intro to ABA is an exploration of how all people learn and grow.
SESSION #4
In this session, we take a step back and learn valuable tools that will help us see our children in new ways.
SESSION #5
Knowing what to teach can be easy - knowing HOW to teach it will be hard. In this session, we learn new skills for helping children learn the lessons they need to be successful.
SESSION #6
This is the session when we bring together the previous five sessions into a unified, individualized plan. As Benjamin Franklin said, “If you fail to plan then you plan to fail.”
SESSION #7
This session focuses on the nuts and bolts of decision-making in Autism in the Church. The goal is to create impartial service driven by facts and not emotion. One way we do that is by counting faithfully because the people we are loving matter.#differentnotless
